Cantamus Begins!

Or maybe, Cantamus returns!

Thank you to the 17 Cantamus singers who remembered that rehearsals began this morning, 7-8am.  We worked a good deal of solfège, dusted off some cobwebs on “Ma Navu,” and talked a bit about plans for the semester.

Welcome to new member Grace, sister of Nico, who auditioned successfully for Cantamus, singing S2.

We will begin in earnest with our three new pieces that I wish to attempt this semester:

  • Jubilate, by Mozart
  • And the Night Shall Be Filled with Music, by Greg Gilpin
  • Wie lieblich sind deine Wohnungen, by Brahms, one of the most transcendently  beautiful pieces of choral art in the literature

These are huge pieces and we may not be able to learn them all — but then again we might!

If you know someone who wants to audition for Cantamus, please let him or her know that time will soon run out for them to do it.

Rehearsals continue every Tuesday and Thursday, 7-8am in Zelman.  WolfeGang Bucks are awarded to students who help set up before 7:00 am.
